“About the Lodge”

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (B.P.O.E.) is a national, fraternal organization dedicated to service to the community and charitable works.  The Elks have been around since 1867, - There are more than 850,000 members and 2,000 lodges nationwide.  The emphasis of the Order is on conducting Youth Programs, Serving our Veterans, and doing Charitable Work in the community in which they live and work.

The Calabash Elks Lodge, 2679, is located at 937 Carter Drive, in Calabash, North Carolina, and has been a local landmark of the area since 1984.  With over 900 plus members, the lodge has become a cornerstone of the local community for the past 30 years.  The Lodge provides its membership with a sanctuary to enjoy, in comfort, the fellowship and brotherhood of other Elks, while conducting the business of the Lodge and serving the many local charities and other non-profit organizations they support.  Since 1984, the Calabash Elks have generously contributed over $250,000 to local charities, and well over $150,000 to the Elks National Foundation.

In good times and in bad times, the Elks have been there for the people in our community who count on them to provide a leg up, a glimmer of hope, or bit of cheer.  Whether the Elks are helping the struggling active duty soldier, the Veterans who still carry the scars of battle, comforting the lonely senior citizen in an assisted living facility, or helping the kids who have what it takes to go to college, but are short on money to get there.  Whether they are supporting the kids at Camp Carefree, putting a smile on the faces of the kids at a Christmas or Halloween party, or any of the many other charities or programs they support, the Elks at Calabash Lodge 2679 are showing that "Elks do Care and Elks do Share."

We invite you to stop in and say hello! Information about becoming an Elk can be found on our Membership Information Page.
